Markets in Lee-on-the-Solent

Local markets, craft fairs and where to find them

Lee-on-the-Solent does not have a permanent daily or weekly market in the traditional sense, but it hosts regular pop-up markets, craft fairs, and seasonal events that bring stall-based trading to the town throughout the year.

The main market activity occurs as part of the annual community events. Summer in Lee includes a substantial market element, with stalls lining the High Street selling artisan food, handmade crafts, vintage items, plants, and local produce. Christmas in Lee similarly features seasonal market stalls offering gifts, festive food, and handmade decorations.

Beyond the flagship events, smaller craft fairs and markets appear at regular intervals. These are typically hosted at the community centre, church halls, or the Lee-on-the-Solent sailing club, and feature local crafters, bakers, and small producers. The frequency varies with the season, with more events during the spring and summer months when footfall is higher.

Farmers' markets and producers' markets in the wider area provide additional options. Fareham hosts a regular market, and there are periodic producers' markets in Gosport and Stubbington that feature local meat, cheese, bread, preserves, and seasonal produce.

Car boot sales and table-top sales appear in community venues and car parks from time to time, offering the usual mix of household clearance, second-hand goods, and the occasional bargain.

For regular fresh produce shopping, the independent greengrocer, butcher, and baker on the High Street provide an alternative to supermarket shopping that supports local trade. Several residents combine these independent shops with a periodic market visit for speciality items.

The Lee Business Association coordinates much of the market activity in the town and promotes events through social media, local noticeboards, and the community Facebook group. If you want to trade at a local market or fair, contacting the Business Association or the relevant venue is the starting point.

The nearest large regular market is Fareham Market, which operates from the town centre and offers a broader range of goods than Lee-on-the-Solent's occasional events can support.
